Job Summary
Our ferry and sightseeing operation is in need of an Electrician to service its New York fleet. This is a full time position with a growing company. The ideal candidate will excel in all responsibilities and help grow our business.
Job Duties
- Maintenance, repair, and upgrade electricals systems
- Low voltage electronics - 12v, 24v, 36v
Standard voltage - 110v/120v
High Voltage - 208v, 220v, 480v
- Maintenance, repair, and upgrade HVAC systems
- Understand data cable and its functions
- Run new wire for and maintenance of sound systems
- Understand and produce wire diagrams as needed
- Execute plans of electrical wiring for well functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical systems
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Diagnose various problems aboard our vessels and determine appropriate repair work
- Ability to source parts
- Ability to find contractors for specific repairs outside in house capability
- Perform tasks independently
- Knowledge of Coast Guard Regulations and ability to keep vessels in compliance
Desired Background
- At least 3 years as a marine electrician
- Electrician certification preferred, not required
- Familiarity with marine applications and the marine environment
- Experience with operation and maintenance of marine machinery
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- A physically demanding job requiring the ability to stand, reach, bend, stoop and walk up and down stairs and on uneven/moving surfaces
- Should have their own tools and vehicle to bring them to work location
- Must have the weekends, on-call, and holiday availability
- Job hours may vary
- Pre-employment background check, pre-employment and random drug testing required in accordance with Coast Guard regulations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
