Job Title: Deckhand
Location: Manhattan and New Jersey
Pay:
Deckhand: $18–$19/hour
Senior Deckhand: $21/hour
Licensed Mate: $25/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking reliable and safety-conscious Deckhands to join our crew. As a Deckhand, you’ll be responsible for monitoring deck areas and assisting passengers to ensure safe and smooth vessel operations. This role includes handling mooring lines, general maintenance, and delivering excellent customer service. You must be flexible to work at multiple locations, including Brooklyn, Manhattan, and New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle mooring lines to dock and undock the vessel
Assist with anchoring, bridge operations, and line handling in all weather conditions
Perform lookout duties to ensure safe navigation
Help passengers board and disembark safely
Support fueling, water filling, shore power connection, and black water unloading
Perform cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs on vessels and facilities
Maintain accurate passenger counts and monitor onboard safety
Participate in safety drills, training, and inspections
Assist with crew training and follow all company and USCG safety regulations
Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
Report safety or environmental concerns immediately
Qualifications:
Strong customer service and communication skills
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet in a physically active role
Comfortable working in fast-paced, outdoor environments
Previous marine experience preferred
Valid TWIC card or ability to obtain
Knowledge of line handling and knot tying (or willingness to learn)
