New York Water Tours, part of the TopView group, runs sightseeing, dining, experiential and special event cruises in New York City. 

New York Water Tours is seeking a skilled Pier Manager to manage all aspects of pier operations, and personnel management at the pier. Reporting to the Director of Marine operations, the Pier Manager would be responsible for smooth and orderly flow of customers in & out of the pier and keeping the pier operations running efficiently. The Pier Manager will oversee pier coordinators, line handlers/scanners, traffic control staff and other pier personnel, as assigned. 

Responsibilities 

● Ensure smooth inflow and outflow of customers from the pier, using clear directional signage and appropriate staffing levels 

● Ensure proper queuing and scanning procedures maintained and adhered to at all times and for all products 

● Manage traffic control functions and crowd control functions at the Pier in accordance with landlord guidelines 

● Create a weekly schedule based on the cruise itinerary, slip assignments, and operational requirements at the pier 

● Ensure all operational needs are met, including the availability and condition of equipment, signage, and displays 

● Engage with customers, as needed, to de-escalate situations and provide guidance ● Train new staff and mentor existing team members to ensure continued development ● Monitor ticket scanning processes, resolve any issues, and report discrepancies ● Maintain a weekly/daily audit report comparing scanned tickets to actual passengers onboard each event or cruise 

● Communicate regularly with TopView bus dispatch and management for up-to-date passenger counts, street closures, or other factors affecting operations 

● Implement new policies and procedures as directed by management and the executive team 

● Ensure all forms and reports are completed and submitted on time 

● Use and monitor various platforms to track passenger counts, event details, and trip changes 

● Ensure accurate incident and accident reporting in accordance with company guidelines

● Oversee payroll management for pier utility attendants and other direct reports, ensuring timely and accurate submissions 

● Ensure compliance with company policies regarding payroll, HR practices, employment regulations and HRPT guidelines. 

● Collaborate with F&B, Marine, Sales, and Admin teams to ensure smooth operations across departments 

● Assist other departments with additional tasks and provide support for pier operations as needed 

● Enforce company safety standards and contribute to accident prevention efforts. Manage safety protocols across vessels, pier areas, and construction zones to maintain constant safety awareness 

● Work with HR to ensure proper staffing levels and assist with recruitment and onboarding efforts 

● Ensure adherence to company appearance and grooming standards among staff ● Manage delivery and inventory movement operations at the Pier 

● Ensure the Pier and storage areas are kept clean and organized, maintaining a safe environment 

● Oversee the organization of storage facilities to optimize operational efficiency. Requirements 

● Must possess a valid driver's license 

● Must be willing to report to multiple locations 

● Ability to stand for extended periods of time 

● Ability to lift 50 lbs over head 

● Must be a self starter with the ability to work independently 

● Must posses provide superb customer service 

● Must be willing to work in all weather conditions 

● Willing to sell upgrades to customers 

● Must be willing to Work up to 12 hour shifts 

● Must be willing to work on holidays and weekends
