Database Administrator

As we scale, we are looking for aspiring professionals to join our R&D team in Sofia,Bulgaria and help drive the growth further. Our company is experiencing a great vertical and horizontal expansion and has planned to start exporting the experience, knowledge and success of our operations to other locations around the world starting in late 2021 such as Washington DC, San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago, London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Dubai, Istanbul and many others.
As a Database Administrator you will play an important role primarily focused on the operational aspect of databases. Ensuring that databases are available, performant, and secure.

Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Supervise the database’s performance and make adjustments as needed.
• Ensure that the database run smoothly – tasks like backups, updates, and patches.
• Monitor developer commits for schema changes, develop, test and deploy migrations.
• Implement and maintain database security protocols.
• Design and execute strategies for database backup and disaster recovery.
• Handle database replication and other scaling techniques.
• Work in close collaboration with developers and data engineers to ensure that the database meets application needs and is optimized for their queries.
• Set up monitoring tools to keep an eye on database health, performance metrics, and set up alerts for potential issues.
• Maintain documentation about the database setup, configurations, procedures, and any changes made.
Your profile:
• At least 10 years experience as Database Administrator,3 years with PostgreSQL
• Solid knowledge of database maintenance and performance tuning;
• Experience with migrations and security control, monitoring and alerting.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery techniques, replication and scaling.
• Proficiency in writing procedures, documentation about database changes, setups
and configurations.
• Good soft skills: communication; time – management; proactivity; prioritizing;
• Required level of English – B2.
